ACCM ACTA Fellowship Pathway

"A medical instrument monitor"

As a result of collective and collaborative vision at UPMC to recruit the future leaders in critical care medicine and cardiothoracic anesthesiology, sequential positions in our Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine (ACCM) and Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology (ACTA) Fellowship Programs are offered by the respective programs. Both programs are one-year, ACGME-approved training programs and the number of positions offered each year are based on applicant interest.

If you are interested in this sequential program track, we recommend the following application process:

  • Apply to the ACCM Fellowship first through the SF Match portal.
  • During the application process, you will be asked if you are also interested in an ACTA fellowship. Select “yes.”
  • Once your application is completed, if both program directors agree to interview you as a sequential applicant, you will be offered an interview date.

Both our ACTA and ACCM Fellowship Programs and their respective directors are committed to training the next generation of leaders in the care of critically ill cardiac patients. Candidates are expected to aspire to build a career in either academic or clinical leadership, or both. The programs will tailor the educational needs of each fellow towards achieving their career goals by offering structured didactic courses, simulation, and quality improvement and research projects mentored by world-class faculty at the University of Pittsburgh and other universities within the greater Pittsburgh area.
