We recognize the role of formalized training in cardio-obstetric anesthesiology to improve pregnancy outcomes related to cardiovascular disease. We offer sequential one-year fellowships in obstetric (OB) and adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology (ACTA) accredited by the ACGME, with the ability to tailor fellows’ elective time and a longitudinal scholarly project towards the goal of becoming a leader in academic cardio-OB anesthesiology. Fellows will train at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, a Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology OB Anesthesia Center of Excellence.
- If you are interested in this pathway, we recommend the following application process:
- Apply to the OB Anesthesiology Fellowship through the SF Match portal.
- Email the coordinators of both fellowship programs (OB Anesthesiology: Ann Martin; Cardiac Anesthesiology: Angela Schultz) with the following:
- That you wish to be considered for two years of training in OB and ACTA at UPMC, and whether you would consider one year of training at UPMC if unable to match in the two-year pathway.
- That you agree to sharing your SF Match application information between program directors in order to coordinate a combined interview process.
- Three recommendation letters - one from your current residency program director, one from an OB anesthesiology faculty member, and one from a cardiac anesthesiology faculty member.
