Clinical Base Year Program

We proudly offer a comprehensive clinical base year (CBY) experience specifically designed to prepare residents for advanced training in our competitive anesthesiology residency.

PANTHER Track

The PANTHER track is an integrated training program for qualified residency applicants interested in pursuing an academic research career as a physician-scientist.

PITTrack

The Pittsburgh Innovation and Technology Track (PITTrack) is a longitudinal training program for those with an interest in medical device innovation. Through a structured curriculum, financial support, and protected non-clinical time, PITTrack scholars will have all the resources necessary for making their innovative ideas a reality.

Didactic Series

The didactics program at the University of Pittsburgh utilizes a variety of formats to facilitate resident learning. The level-specific comprehensive program starts on the very first day of the CA-1 year and continues until graduation.

Combined Anesthesiology-Pediatrics Residency

The University of Pittsburgh Departments of Pediatrics and Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine are pleased to offer this dual board acceptable opportunity to train in both specialties. At the end of the five-year program, residents will be eligible to become board-certified in both pediatrics and anesthesiology.

International Opportunities

The diversity of clinical settings you will experience as a resident is enhanced by the opportunity to practice internationally as a CA-3. International rotations are fully supported by the department, and your clinical duties will always be under the supervision of an anesthesiologist from our faculty.
