Congratulations to Sonja Plasil from the lab of Gregg E. Homanics, PhD, and co-mentored by Sean P. Farris, PhD, who received an F31 predoctoral fellowship award from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism for her project “LncRNA Gas5 Dysregulation Alters Ethanol Drinking Behavior and Ethanol-Related Phenotypes.”
In her funded project, Sonja will assess the ability of genetically modified Gas5 to regulate ethanol drinking and ethanol-related behaviors. The goal of her project is to advance the world’s understanding of the link between alcohol use disorders and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), which may also provide insight that is widely applicable to other diseases.
