The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), an educational, research, and scientific association of physicians organized to raise and maintain medical practice standards of anesthesiology and improve patient care, is one of the largest and most influential professional societies in the specialty. The Annual ASA Meeting features new scientific developments, technology, and challenging cases in the field of anesthesiology. Over 14,000 peers, thought leaders, and anesthesia providers from around the world are expected to attend the conference.
An impressive number of medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty from our department participate in the ASA meeting every year. ANESTHESIOLOGY 2019 will be held October 19-23 in Orlando, FL. Department members will deliver 65 presentations, and 21 faculty members and four residents will serve on ASA and ASA-related committees. Also, our residents are competing/fundraising in the ASA Lifebox Challenge as well as the ASA-sponsored “Run for the Warriors” on October 20.
Our annual alumni reception is scheduled for Sunday, October 20th from 6-9 pm at the Hilton Orlando, Room Lake Mizell. Invitations have been sent to all department members and alumni; we ask that all invitees please RSVP to AnesEducation@upmc.edu by October 3, 2019.
Our 2019 ASA meeting companion (PDF) lists all department presentations and participation in committees at the meeting.
