Our residents have started a fundraiser to collect donations for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and help the many members of our community who are now struggling to feed their families due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its resulting damage to our economy.
The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank was founded in 1980. Last year they provided 35 million meals. Their services will be in high demand for the duration of the pandemic. The Food Bank’s huge food distributions downtown and in Butler County have been featured by our local news.
The residents are asking you to join in this effort. So far, they've raised over $10,000. Please consider supporting this cause by donating via their GoFundMe page.
The residents’ Food Bank fundraiser inspired faculty to make contributions to other food pantries in Western Pennsylvania. Dr. Kristin Ondecko Ligda made a $1,000 donation in honor of our residency program to her hometown's community food pantry, Good Samaritan Food Pantry in Northern Cambria, to help the large rural community in Western Pennsylvania outside the city of Pittsburgh.
