Two department projects were recently awarded financial support from the University of Pittsburgh’s Chancellor’s Gap Fund, which provides grants ranging $25,000 to $75,000 for innovators with promising discoveries to explore the commercial potential of their ideas.
Proposals went through a multi-step process involving a team drawn from the University’s Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, as well as an internal faculty review board.
The two department projects that were selected for funding were:
- Vanish Therapeutics, Inc. — Biodegradable Nerve Stimulator: Principal investigators are Drs. Trent Emerick, Tracy Cui (Dept. of Bioengineering), and Raj Kubendran (Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering)
- TVI — A software application system for clinicians to manage blood pressure more safely during surgery: Principal investigators are Drs. Michael Schnetz and Aman Mahajan.
