Our residents Jacob Pickle, MD, MBA, and Austin Smith, MD, were chosen by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Class of 2025 as two of only six recipients of the Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award / "Little Apple" Award.
Selected by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Class of 2025, Drs. Pickle and Smith stand among awardees chosen for their embodiment of the highest ideals of the medical profession. The “Little Apple” accolades, conceived by the PittMed Class of 2003, celebrate residents who epitomize excellence in student mentorship, leadership within healthcare teams, depth of medical knowledge, and above all, a profound commitment to compassionate, humanistic patient care.
The 2025 “Little Apple” awardees will be formally honored during the Class of 2026 Pinning Ceremony on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Scaife Hall.
