The Winter Institute for Simulation, Education, and Research (WISER) was recently re-endorsed as an approved program in the American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA) Simulation Education Network (SEN). William R. McIvor, MD, FASA, WISER’s Associate Director and an award-winning educator and faculty member of our department, led the re-endorsement process.
The SEN is a network of ASA-endorsed simulation programs held in centers across the country to train anesthesiologists and is the culmination of consultation among leaders in anesthesia simulation. The program advocates the promotion of learning through simulation, which specifically approves programs of quality in anesthesiology simulation training whose aim is to improve patient safety. The ASA Simulation Editorial Board oversees the SEN that provides training to satisfy the American Board of Anesthesiology’s Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA®) requirements.
