We are happy to share that Tara Knizner, MD, has been appointed Assistant Chief Anesthesiologist for our UPP East Anesthesiology Division (UPMC East, UPMC McKeesport, and UPMC West Mifflin), effective September 1, 2021.
Dr. Knizner earned both her BS in Biology and Psychology and MS in Healthcare Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University. She received her MD from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed her anesthesiology residency and regional anesthesiology fellowship at UPMC. Dr. Knizner joined our department’s faculty as an attending anesthesiologist in 2013 as part of the clinical team at UPMC East, where she is the supervising anesthesiologist for the Preoperative Evaluation Clinic and a representative on the hospital’s Quality Improvement Committee. Dr. Knizner is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
As Assistant Site Chief, Dr. Knizner will coordinate anesthesia services at the UPP East Anesthesiology Division sites, back up the Site Chief in managing the daily OR schedules, and serve as a department clinical liaison. She will also serve on all medical staff committees and have significant clinical OR responsibilities.
