Shawn T. Beaman, MD, FASA, was promoted to Full Examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) Applied Examination.
The Applied Exam is a structured oral examination that is the third of three staged exams physicians take during and after residency to earn board certification in anesthesiology. The test focuses on the clinical aspects of perioperative medicine and emphasizes subspecialty-based practice and advanced clinical issues.
Examiners volunteer for a significant commitment that includes devoting two weeks as an examiner every year. Examiners are promoted through the levels of Provisional, New, Associate, and Full Examiners. Full Examiners administer two different parts of the exam, mentor provisional and new examiners, and are responsible for the overall conduct of each exam. Through their service, examiners help the ABA establish and uphold the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.
Congratulations to Dr. Beaman for this honor!
