Induction into FAER Academy of Research Mentors
Dr. Sadhasivam has been accepted into the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) Academy of Research Mentors in Anesthesiology. The academy is dedicated to advancing education and research in anesthesiology by supporting and developing mentors who guide the next generation of physician-scientists. Members are selected based on their outstanding mentoring experiences and contributions to academic anesthesiology. As a member of this distinguished group, Dr. Sadhasivam will play a crucial role in mentoring activities at the American Society of Anesthesiologists annual meeting and for the FAER Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship Program.
Joining Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI)
In addition to his FAER recognition, Dr. Sadhasivam has become a part of the team of investigators at the Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI). MWRI is renowned for its groundbreaking work in women’s health, attracting top scientists dedicated to translating research into practice and improving the lives of women and infants globally. At MWRI, Dr. Sadhasivam joins a collaborative community committed to enhancing the scientific prominence and cultural status of women’s health.
Appointment as Associate Dean for Perioperative Research
Dr. Sadhasivam's exceptional leadership and expertise have been further recognized with his recent appointment as Associate Dean for Perioperative Research at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, effective July 1, 2024. In this critical role, he will lead multidisciplinary, innovative, and high-impact clinical and translational research programs, driving the University’s expanding initiatives in perioperative research. His efforts will focus on advancing implementation science, fostering the commercialization of clinical research, and enhancing the overall research infrastructure.
As part of his new responsibilities, Dr. Sadhasivam will establish and direct the Center for Perioperative Research (CPR), overseeing research efforts that span anesthesia, surgical specialties, and diverse hospital and ambulatory environments. The CPR’s mission is to produce groundbreaking clinical, translational, and basic science research that transforms outcomes for surgical patients and perioperative clinicians. This mission will be achieved through highly productive interdisciplinary collaborations across surgical specialties, anesthesiology, pain management, and partnerships with federal funding agencies. The CPR will also leverage expertise in clinical trials, implementation science, pharmacogenetics, mental health, and bioinformatics, while strengthening synergies with existing University of Pittsburgh/UPMC Cores and Institutes, as well as forging collaborations with institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University and potential international partners.
