Congratulations to K. Karisa Walker, MD, FAAP, who was invited to serve on the ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) Anesthesiology Milestones 2.0 Working Group. The group is tasked with reviewing and revising the current Milestones used by all ACGME-accredited anesthesiology education programs and developing a Supplemental Guide to provide additional insight into the Milestones. Milestones are competency-based developmental outcomes (e.g., knowledge, skills, attitudes, and performance) that can be demonstrated progressively by residents/fellows from the beginning of their education through graduation to the unsupervised practice of their specialties.
The Working Group includes only 10-15 appointed members who are experts in anesthesiology within graduate medical education. This important milestone revision will help shape anesthesiology graduate medical education for residency programs across the nation over the next era.
