Congratulations to Harikesh Subramanian, MBBS, MS, for successfully completing his rigorous studies to earn a Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Subramanian’s degree work was marked by a profound focus on cutting-edge topics within the field, including the implementation of advanced data structures, computer programming, machine learning, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, gene sequencing principles, and electronic health record maintenance.
This significant accomplishment was made possible through Dr. Subramanian's participation in our Faculty Fellow Advanced Scholarship Training (FFAST) Career Development Program. The FFAST initiative offers vital financial support to faculty members seeking to pursue advanced degrees in health-related disciplines beyond anesthesiology, fostering the development of specialized teams.
Reflecting on his experience, Dr. Subramanian expressed his gratitude for the support provided by FFAST. "FFAST was invaluable for me. I was able to carve out time around my schedule to work on the degree. I attended classes that were available via video conferencing on pre/post call days and the in-person lessons on my non-clinical days," he shared. "The departmental financial support was generous, and I did not have to pay much out of pocket. I appreciate the department’s effort to put this program together and for supporting my pursuit of an MS in my initial years as a faculty member."
For faculty members within our department aspiring to further their education and explore graduate-level certifications or degrees in diverse fields such as informatics, business, leadership, clinical research, and more, we encourage you to consider the opportunities presented by our FFAST program.
