Department Highlights: National Presence at 2025 IARS/SOCCA/SATA Meetings

Our department was well represented at the 2025 combined annual meetings of the of the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS), the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists (SOCCA), and the Society for the Advancement of Transplant Anesthesia (SATA), held March 20–23 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The following presentations and contributions were featured.

Dr. Angelidis was a moderator for IARS Poster Session A (Obstetric Anesthesiology) and Poster Session B (Cardiovascular Anesthesiology) on Friday, March 21, 2025.

He was also a speaker on the panel “Obstetric Critical Care, Clinical Strategies to Improve Maternal Mortality in our ICUs: Pearls for the Intensivist,” presenting “Describe Common Cardiac Conditions in Pregnancy, Their Most Likely Outcomes, and Their Management in the Peri-Operative and ICU Setting” on Sunday, March 23, 2025.

Dr. Lim was a moderator for the IARS poster session “Technology, Computing and Simulation, Equipment Monitoring,” on Friday, March 21, 2025.

Dr. Lim was a speaker, presenting “Introduction, Summary of Recommendations” on Saturday, March 22, 2025, as part of the IARS panel session "Optimizing Peripartum Pain Management for Pregnant Patients with Opioid Use Disorder: Consensus Statement from SOAP, ASRA, and SMFM - Co-sponsored by Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP).” Dr. Lim also moderated this panel session. The panel was also featured in the March 23 Issue 4 of The Daily Dose, the official newsletter of the IARS Annual Meeting and Scholars’ Program.

Dr. Lim presented the IARS poster “Hypotension Prediction Index for Epidural Labor Analgesia Induced Hypotension: A Randomized Controlled Trial Protocol with Feasibility, Appropriateness, and Acceptability Analysis” on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Dr. Lim presented the IARS poster “Ketamine Maximum Tolerated Dose for Postpartum Depression and Pain After Cesarean Delivery (PREPARE1)” on Saturday, March 22, 2025. This work was also selected for a poster presentation in the “Outstanding Abstract Category” at the Mechanisms of Anesthesia Conference (MAC 2025) meeting on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
