We are honored to announce the retirement of Terri Sluganski, CRNA Director at UPMC Mercy Hospital and UPMC Mercy Pavilion. Terri’s remarkable career spans an incredible 45 years as a dedicated CRNA, with 35 of those years spent at UPMC Mercy Hospital. Over the last 13 years, she has served in leadership roles, including two years as Assistant Director and the past 11 years as CRNA Director at Mercy. Her unwavering commitment and passion have left an indelible mark on the CRNA team and the entire Mercy community.
Throughout her career, Terri has been a pillar of strength, a source of inspiration, and a driving force in advancing the CRNA profession at Mercy. Her dedication to quality care, her ability to mentor and guide new practitioners, and her tireless efforts in maintaining excellence have set a high standard for all who have had the privilege of working with her. She has consistently demonstrated clinical expertise combined with genuine compassion and empathy for her patients, earning the admiration and respect of colleagues, physicians, and staff alike.
As Terri embarks on this new chapter of her life, we extend our deepest gratitude for her years of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to UPMC, Mercy Hospital, and our department. Her legacy will be carried forward by the countless individuals she has mentored and the many patients whose lives she has touched. Terri's exceptional skills, guidance, and dedication have been invaluable, and her influence will be felt for years to come.
On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the department presented Terri Sluganski with the Chair’s Exemplary Leadership and Service Award in recognition of her 45 years of service as a CRNA and her 13 years as Clinical CRNA Assistant Director/Director at UPMC Mercy. This award reflects the profound impact she has had on our team and the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
