The department’s Recruitment and Selection Committee is pleased to announce the Chief Residents for the 2019-2020 academic year:
Michael Gemma, MD - Chief Resident
Mike is an Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society graduate of the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He is an Ohio native with an undergraduate degree from Miami University (OH). He did an exemplary job this year in the role of Junior Chief of Advocacy and was also active in our residency recruitment efforts. Most recently, he was responsible for organizing the very successful second annual citywide fund raiser for the Light of Life Rescue Mission.
Kate Petty, MD - Associate Chief Resident
Kate is an AOA graduate of the Wayne State University School of Medicine with an undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University. She was very active this year in her role as Junior Chief of Recruitment, working with two other junior chiefs to organize interview dinners and applicant follow up for what turned out to be a very successful residency match.
Michael Sypert, DO - Associate Chief Resident
Mike is a graduate of the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine with an undergraduate degree from John Carroll University. He was also actively involved in this year’s recruitment efforts as a Junior Chief.
