“Perioperative Transthoracic Echocardiography Practice By Cardiac Anesthesiologists-Report of a ‘Start-Up’ Experience” by department authors Drs. Kathirvel Subramaniam, Michael Boisen, Liora Yehushua, Stephen Esper, and Kimberly Howard-Quijano was the topic of the editorial “Perioperative TTE Service: Developing a Roadmap for Success” published in the Journal of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia (JCVA). The editorial discussed the lack of literature and limited guidance on establishing a perioperative transthoracic echocardiography service (PTS) and praised the work by the authors:
“Limited literature is available that provides guidance for the establishment of a PTS. In the absence of such guidance, examples of institutional success can serve as a roadmap and lay the foundation for others. Subramaniam et al. should be commended for their efforts in establishing a PTS and sharing their path to success with the anesthesia community. A path to PTS success has been made clearer by their efforts.”
