"Headshot of Tyler Nelson"

Congratulations to Tyler Nelson, a PhD candidate in the laboratory of Dr. Bradley Taylor, who received an NIH F99/K00 predoctoral-to-postdoctoral transition award from the NIH/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). The grant, “Targeting Spinal Neuropeptide Y1 Receptor-expressing Neurons for the Control of Neuropathic Pain,” will fund the remaining one to two years of Tyler’s PhD work as well as four years of postdoctoral research at any university he chooses in the United States. Tyler’s current work in the Taylor laboratory focuses on maladaptive changes to the spinal cord dorsal horn following peripheral nerve injury with a focus on identifying pharmacotherapeutic targets for neuropathic pain. His dissertation work has received multiple honors, including T32 funding, an F31 National Research Service Award from the NINDS, and several national and international poster and presentation awards.
