Congratulations to Shiv K. Goel, MD, who has been selected for the position of Interim Chief of Anesthesiology, UPMC Shadyside, beginning July 1, 2018. Dr. Goel is a 2006 graduate of our UPMC Anesthesiology Residency Program, with additional fellowship training in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Management. He has served as Director of the Medical Student Perioperative Rotation at UPMC Shadyside and chaired the Clinical Competency Committee for our ACGME-accredited Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Fellowship. He is a well-respected clinician and educator with a clear commitment to the department and the core values of UPMC Shadyside.
We thank Robert Boretsky, MD for his tremendous work and dedication leading our UPMC Shadyside Division over the last 11 years. Over the next month, Dr. Boretsky will help to ensure a smooth transition for Dr. Goel into the position.
