We are proud to announce that Keith M. Vogt, MD, PhD, FASA, and co-authors James W. Ibinson, MD, PhD, Courtney N. Kozdron, and Marcus A. Simmons, MD, have been awarded First Place for their abstract at the International Society for Anesthetic Pharmacology (ISAP) 2024 Annual Meeting. Their abstract, titled “Modulation of Human Brain Areas for Memory and Pain by Propofol, Dexmedetomidine, and Fentanyl: A Randomized Controlled 7T Functional MRI Study in Healthy Young Adults,” highlights novel research into how these commonly used anesthetics influence brain activity related to memory encoding and pain processing, during acute painful stimulation.
The abstract will be presented at the ISAP annual meeting on October 18, 2024, in Philadelphia. We extend our congratulations to Dr. Vogt and the Anesthesiology Neuroscience Research team for this well-deserved recognition and for continuing to advance our scientific understanding of anesthetic pharmacology in humans.
