Our CRNAs continued their traditions of celebration, appreciation, and community service during National CRNA Week, an annual celebration of the nation’s nearly 59,000 nurse anesthetists, which took place from January 23-29, 2022:
- Yvonne A. Shedlock, MSN, CRNA, coordinated a service project with the CRNAs of UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. They donated a generous number of toys to the hospital’s pediatric patients for Christmas and donated a meal to Ronald McDonald House Pittsburgh, an organization providing comfort, care, and support to thousands of families traveling to our region to seek medical care for their children.
- Our UPMC Mercy CRNAs celebrated each day of the week with tokens of appreciation. At the end of the week, they had a combined lunch celebration for both CRNA Week and Physician Anesthesiologists Week (Jan 30 - Feb 5).
- CRNAs at UPMC Passavant held a Las Vegas-themed luncheon to celebrate both CRNA Week and Physician Anesthesiologists Week. They also held an educational meeting where Charles Lin, MD, and Linda Ann Shaffer, MS, CH, CRNA, presented their quality improvement project on the use of “Lumify lights” in the operating rooms.
- Our UPMC Presbyterian/Montefiore CRNAs sponsored their annual “Donut Day” Peer Appreciation Reception for all the staff in Surgical Services on January 28th.
