The article “By the Numbers: The Verging Interest in Increasing African Americans in the STEM Workforce” by William Simmons, MD (Visiting Associate Professor and President of the Gateway Medical Society) was published in the June 2015 Allegheny County Medical Society (ACMS) Bulletin (page 240). The article addresses the need for more African Americans in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and various programs that are currently working to address this need.
